Ryder Tillard Signs with EWC Esports

Ryder Tillard, of Douglas, Wyoming, has signed to become a member of Eastern Wyoming College's new Esports team. The Douglas High School senior will compete in Fortnite.

"I have a passion for that game," Tillard said. "I started playing the game around five years ago. I really connected with it and it took off."

When he started playing, he said, "it never crossed my mind that it would lead to a scholarship. I started playing the game for fun and it turned into this. It one of the coolest things."

Tillard will join the new Lancer team led by EWC Coach Caleb Spitzer.

"I'm excited to have someone of Ryder's talent on our new team," Coach Spitzer said. "He will be a great strong competitor."

The team will have gaming stations on both EWC's Douglas and Torrington campuses. Spitzer's goal is to have 10 stations on the Torrington Campus and another five on the Douglas Campus.

At EWC Tillard is planning on studying ag business.
