Anderson Wins All Around Title, Helps Lancers to Finish 3rd

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancer Rodeo Team delivered a strong performance at the Shawn Dubie Memorial College Rodeo in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with 13 Lancers advancing to the short go on Sunday. Carter Anderson claimed the title of Men's All-Around Champion after an impressive showing in tie-down roping and team roping.

Anderson, a sophomore from Merriman, Nebraska, secured the tie-down roping average win with a 9.1-second long go run, followed by a 9.6-second short go performance. His total time of 18.7 seconds on two runs propelled him to victory. Additionally, Anderson placed fourth in the team roping average, earning enough points to claim the All-Around Champion title for the weekend.

The Lancers excelled in tie-down roping, with three sophomores making it to the short go:

  • Colton Zimmerman recorded a 9.6-second run in the long go and a 10.0-second short go, placing third in the average at 19.6 seconds on two runs.
  • Cooper Phillips had a 10.4-second long go run and a 12.0-second short go, finishing seventh in the average with a total of 22.4 seconds.

In team roping, several Lancer duos made their mark:

  • Edgar Aguilar (header) and Colton Zimmerman (heeler) secured a 7.4-second long go run, placing second, before finishing fifth in the average after a tough short go.
  • Carter Anderson and Dalton Moore posted the fastest long go time at 6.7 seconds, finishing fourth in the average.
  • Nick Albrecht, a freshman from Sheridan, Wyoming, and partner Keyton Hayden (Gillette Rodeo Team) placed ninth in the long go with a 9.4-second run. They bounced back with a 12.3-second short go run, finishing third in the average.

In bulldogging, Lancer TC Hughson placed ninth in the long go with a 6.3-second run and finished eighth in the short go after a 15.7-second effort. Teagan Gourneau ran a 6.4-second long go to place 10th, ultimately finishing 10th in the average.

In bareback riding, Cian Daly scored 59 points in the long go, followed by a 55-point ride in the short go, finishing seventh in the average. In saddle bronc riding, Trey Tuplin posted a 66-point long go ride, securing seventh in the average despite a tough short go.

In breakaway roping, Brenna Herring, a sophomore from Veteran, Wyoming, posted a 2.7-second run, tying for 10th, 11th, and 12th, and finished 11th in the average. Isabelle Comino of Buffalo, Wyoming, had a 2.5-second long go run and placed ninth in the average.

In goat tying, freshman Abby Collen recorded an 8.5-second long go run, followed by a 7.8-second short go, securing sixth place in the average with a total of 16.3 seconds on two runs.

Team Results

The EWC Men's Rodeo Team placed third overall with 390 points, marking a successful weekend at the Shawn Dubie Memorial College Rodeo.

The Lancers will conclude their fall season with one final rodeo, traveling to Lamar, Colorado, on Oct. 18-20.
