TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancer Rodeo Team welcomed supporters to the 3rd Annual Black Jeans & Gold Buckles Gala on Friday, Nov. 22. Held at the Goshen County Fair's Rendezvous Center, the fundraising event featured an evening of camaraderie, live music, and competitive auction bidding, all in support of Lancer Rodeo.
Guests enjoyed a hearty meal prepared by Reds from the Torrington Livestock Market and served by members of the EWC Rodeo Team. Entertainment for the evening was provided by Kellen Smith and the Misfits, who delivered a lively performance for attendees.
The fundraising auctions featured an extensive selection of items, offering something for every guest. From household essentials to signed football helmets by elite players, tickets to Cheyenne Frontier Days and the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) events, and several exclusive hunting opportunities, the silent and live auctions provided ample opportunities for supporters to contribute.
The Lancer Rodeo Team worked diligently to secure auction donations, receiving contributions from across the region, including states as far away as North Dakota and Oklahoma. This broad support underscores the strength of the team's community network.
The event drew more than 400 attendees, all coming together to celebrate the western way of life while supporting student-athletes. This year's gala raised over $40,000, directly benefiting the rodeo team by funding essential travel expenses such as fuel, lodging, and meals. Additionally, this fundraising effort reinvests into the local economy.
A significant portion of the funds supports the purchase of tens of thousands of pounds of feed sourced from Goshen County to sustain the team's practice livestock. Additionally, proceeds assist with covering rental costs at the Goshen County Fairgrounds, which exceed $40,000 annually.
The EWC Rodeo Team extends its heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, donors, and attendees for their continued support. Their generosity ensures the success of Lancer Rodeo and strengthens the program's ability to compete at the highest level.
