The fall college rodeo season concluded last month and finds several of the Eastern Wyoming College student athletes at the top of the Central Rocky Mountain Regional standings.

The men's team is in second place with a total of 1897.50 points.  They trail Chadron State College who has a point total of 2280.  Casper College is in third place with 1645.

Sophomore AJ Freeman, Dunning, NE, is leading the men's all around with 530 points. 

"I am really pleased with the way our team competed this fall.  We have six student athletes currently in the top three in their events and our men's team is holding a strong second place," shared coach Jake Clark.  "I am really excited about how our freshman competed, both on the men's and women's teams.  The team will work hard and stay in shape over the winter break and hopefully come back strong when we start up in March."

In the bull riding, sophomore Dalton Cunningham, Bloomfield, NE, is third in the standings with 160 points. 

EWC dominates the team roping standings with the freshman team of Riley Curuchet, Kaycee, WY and partner Denton Shaw, Lusk, WY, leading the pack with 425 points.  Teammates and fellow freshmen Gunner Walker, Arthur, NE and partner Kade Pinneo, Rising City, NE, are in 6th place with 155 points.  Other Lancer team ropers in the top 15 include Cody Lane, Torrington, WY and partner Tyus Olson, Mud Butte, SD; Trevor Schnaufer, Pueblo, CO, Blaine Finney, Ainsworth, NE, Cotey Hansen, Chadron, NE and Cody Colman, O'Neill, NE.

Freeman also leads the steer wrestling with a total of 310 points.  His brother, Tanner Freeman, is 8th.

Lane is 2nd in the tie down roping and teammate AJ Freeman is 3rd.

The Lancers concluded their fall rodeo season in Cheyenne where AJ Freeman captured the all-around title for the rodeo.  He placed second in the first round of the tie down roping and finished third in the steer wrestling average.

Lane finished the LCCC rodeo in second place in the tie down roping.  Finney also qualified for the short round in the tie down competition.

In the steer wrestling, Tanner Freeman was 3rd in the first round.

The team roping team of Walker and Pinneo captured the team roping title for the weekend at the final rodeo of the season.  They were 11.8 seconds on two steers.  Sophomore Cody Colman, O'Neill, NE and partner Tate Mathis from LCCC won the first round with a time of 5.5 seconds.

In the breakaway roping, sophomore Rylee Rutten, Colome, SD and teammate Savanna Jamison, freshman, Ashby, NE, each qualified for the short round.

The spring season will begin in March with the annual EWC Lancer Rodeo March 4-6, 2016.
