EWC Lady Lancers win second at LCCC rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancer Rodeo team finished in 2nd place in the team standings at the rodeo recently hosted by Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, WY. The Lancers accumulated 270 points with the University of Wyoming Women's team winning first with a total of 365 points.

Leading the Lancers was freshman Karissa Rayhill, Martin, SD. She finished 2nd in the 1st round of the goat tying, split 3rd in the short round and finished in 2nd place in the average with a total time of 13.6 seconds. Teammate Jacey Thompson, freshman, Yoder, WY, was close behind and finished in 3rd place in the average with a total time of 14.0. She was 3rd in the first round and split 3rd in the short round with Rayhill. Libby Winchell, freshman, Scottsbluff, NE, capped it off for the ladies by splitting 5th place in the average with a total time of 1.4 seconds.

Rayhill also qualified for the short round in the Breakaway.

Sophomore Wyatt Schuelke, Faith, SD, won the 1st round of the saddle bronc riding with a score of 76.

In the team roping, the sophomore team of Levi Walter, Wray, CO and partner Tyus Olson, Mud Butte, SD, were 3rd in the first round, 3rd in the short round and finished the weekend 2nd in the average. Sophomore Colton Reed, Wiley, CO and partner Casey Sellers, UW, were 4th in the first round. Braden Pirrung, Hartford, SD and Riley Curuchet, Kaycee, WY, also qualified for the short round.

The Lancers will compete at the Gillette College Rodeo March 16, 17 and 18.
