EWC Rodeo Kicks Off Spring Season at Gillette College Rodeo

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancer Rodeo Team launched its spring season with a strong showing at the Gillette College Rodeo in Gillette, Wyoming. Five Lancer athletes advanced to the short-go round on Sunday, marking a successful start to the season.

Sophomores Carter Anderson of Merriman, Nebraska, and Dalton Moore of Lyman, South Dakota, had an impressive weekend in team roping. The duo clocked an 8.3-second run in the long round, placing fourth heading into the short-go. They remained consistent with a 17.4-second run on Sunday, securing a third-place finish in the average for the weekend.

In barrel racing, Camryn Kocian, a sophomore from Brainard, Nebraska, had a standout performance with a 14.48-second run in the long-go, placing fifth. Despite some tough luck in the short-go, she finished with a time of 19.86 seconds, earning 10th place in the average for the weekend.

Taydon Gorsuch of Gering, Nebraska, made his mark in steer wrestling with a 7.2-second run in the long round, securing seventh place going into the short-go. A challenging Sunday run placed him ninth in the average for the weekend.

In breakaway roping, Kailee Gill, a sophomore from Moorcroft, Wyoming, posted a quick 3.1-second run in the long round, advancing to the short-go in 10th place. She maintained her position, finishing 10th in the average for the weekend.

Overall, the EWC men's team finished ninth with 110 points, a solid start to the spring season. The Lancers now turn their focus to hosting their own college rodeo, scheduled for March 28-30 in Torrington.
