TORRINGTON, Wyo - Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) is pleased to announce the signing of Lola Hughes, a standout volleyball player from Las Vegas, Nevada, to join the Lancer Volleyball team. Hughes, who will be a key addition to the program, is excited to bring her talents to EWC while also preparing for a future in veterinary school.
“I chose EWC because, out of all the schools I visited, it was the only one with a true vet program and an incredible facility,” Hughes said. “I also liked the small-town environment, which felt like the right fit for me. It’s the best place to prepare for vet school while still allowing me to play volleyball.”
A decorated athlete, Hughes has earned numerous accolades throughout her high school career, including a varsity letter, first-team all-conference honors as a freshman, and captain duties in her final year. She has also been recognized on the honor roll and received a certificate of completion for an essential animal first aid training course. Hughes helped lead her club team to qualify for Nationals the last two years, showcasing both her athleticism and leadership abilities.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Lola join the Lancer Volleyball team,” said George Hamilton, head coach of the EWC Volleyball team. “Her skills on the court are impressive, but what truly stands out is her leadership and drive. She is the type of player who leads by example and has a genuine passion for both volleyball and her future in veterinary science. We can’t wait to see what she brings to the team.”
Hughes’ commitment to both her sport and her academic goals aligns perfectly with EWC’s mission to provide student-athletes with a well-rounded college experience. The Lancer Volleyball team is eager to welcome her and support her on and off the court as she works toward her dreams.
