EWC Women’s Golf Places Fourth at NCAA Division II Homestake Invite

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Eastern Wyoming College’s women’s golf team turned in a strong performance at the Homestake Invite, an NCAA Division II tournament held Sept. 22-23 in Spearfish, South Dakota.

The Lady Lancers finished fourth overall with a team score of +85. The University of Nebraska at Kearney claimed the top spot at +59.

Freshman standout Sara Maciej led the Lancers, placing second individually at +6, just three strokes behind Montana State Billings’ Orraya Jan Tipasathien. Elliann Irick added another top-10 finish for Eastern Wyoming, carding a +18 to secure seventh place.

Also competing for the Lancers were Bailey Watson, Maddie Fujimoto, Ashlynn Matheson and Jessica Applegarth, each contributing to the team’s solid showing against the Division II field.

“I’m extremely proud of how our women competed this week,” EWC golf coach Zach Smith said. “Facing several NCAA Division II programs, we showed we can play with anyone. Sara’s runner-up finish and Elliann’s top-10 result highlight the depth and determination of this team.”
