Two days after upsetting Western Nebraska, the Eastern Wyoming College men's basketball team narrowly missed out on doing the same to Casper College.
The Lancers led by 13, 75-62, in the second half but couldn't fend off the Thunderbird comeback in a 92-84 loss Wednesday night in Torrington.
Two free throws from Jonatan Arvidsson gave the Lancers a four-point cushion, 81-77, with 2:21 left. Casper responded with a quick bucket, however, and used full-court pressure to force three consecutive EWC turnovers, which produced four T-Bird points and put the Lancers down 83-81 with 1:33 remaining.
Eastern didn't receive any luck of the bounce, either. Down 83-82 with less than a minute left, Casper airballed a 3-point attempt only to save an offensive rebound and turn it into a successful three.
Casper College was receiving votes in the lates NJCAA national rankings.
Eastern hosts No. 11 Western Wyoming at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
