EWC wins Lamar tournament

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf team won the Lamar Community College tournament with a two-day total score of 584. The Lancers finished 25 strokes ahead of second place McCook with 609.

Leading the Lancers and winning the tournament was Gonzalo Arcelay Fernandez-Meras, freshman, Munguia, Spain. He shot 68, 68 for a total of 136, winning by 10 strokes.

"This was a great comeback from the team after the first tournament didn't go the way we wanted. I was proud of the guys as they played to their strengths," said Coach Zach Smith. "Gonzalo had a great weekend and it was fun to watch him do so well. The competition is tough this year so we need to play our best every tournament."
