EWC wins home tournament by 16 strokes

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team won their home tournament with a two-day score of 581. McCook Community College finished second with a score of 597. Six men's teams competed in the annual fall tournament.

Two Lancers tied for the tournament win with a player from McCook. Sophomores Gonzalo Arcelay, Munguia, Spain, and George Elliott, Salisbury, England, finished the tournament with a two-day total score of 142, 2 under par. Arcelay's scores were 72, 70 and Elliott shot 73, 69.

Kash Kaufman, sophomore, Torrington, WY, missed the tournament due to a shoulder injury.

"It was great to have 7 out of 8 EWC players place in the top 10 at our home tournament," said Coach Zach Smith. "We shot well as a team and can really build on the momentum from this tournament as we put our attention on preparing for the NJC Invite. Gonzalo and George played very well both days to finish the tournament under par."

The Lancers will compete in Sterling, CO at a tournament hosted by Northeastern Junior College September 20-21.
