EWC wins NJC Tournament

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf Team won the tournament hosted by Northeastern Junior College with a total score of 568, 19 strokes better than McCook Community College who placed second with 587. Sophomore Gonzalo Arcelay won the tournament with scores of 68 – 68 for a total of 136.

"This was our best performance on the road since I began coaching. It was fun to witness," said Coach Zach Smith. "Our team has put a tremendous amount of work into their practices and qualifying rounds which is paying off at the tournaments. We will face the toughest course in Region IX this week as we travel to McCook."

Eric Stevens, freshman, Bridgeport, NE, 72, 69- 141, tied 3rd Harry Walch, sophomore, Staines, England, 72, 69 – 141, tied 3rd Jo Vin Tan, freshman, Taiping, Malaysia, 73, 70 – 143, tied 5th George Elliott, sophomore, Salisbury, England, 72, 76 – 148, tied 9th RJ Moya, freshman, Three Rivers, TX, 78, 80 – 158, tied 19th.

The Lancers will compete in McCook, NE at the annual tournament hosted by McCook Community College September 27-28.
