EWC battles tough course and tough competition for win at McCook

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf Team just returned from a tough tournament hosted by McCook Community College. The Lancers won the tournament with a total score of 634. McCook was second with 638.

"We struggled mightily on Thursday, but we stayed positive and knew if we played well on Friday that we could come back from being down 9 strokes," said Coach Zach Smith. "The course was playing rough both days and the weather on Friday wasn't ideal, but the guys stayed positive and made up the strokes we lost on Thursday. It wasn't our best tournament but we came away with a win and we learned some things about our team."

Leading the Lancers was sophomore George Elliott, Salisbury, England, who shot 78, 74 for a total of 152. Elliott won the tournament. Other Lancer scores were as follows:

The Lancers will travel to LaJunta, CO to play in a tournament hosted by Otero Junior College October 4-5.
