EWC’s Cordall finished 3rd at Lamar

The Lancer golf team finished second at the Lamar Community College tournament held March 23-24 in Lamar, Colorado. Eastern Wyoming College had four golfers, George Cordall, Nottinghamshire, England; Leander Suttka, Berlin, Germany; Noah Taylor, Spanish Fork, UT; and Oscar Behle, Hjarup, Sweden finished in the top 10, with Cordall finishing in third place overall.

EWC's Cordall finished in third place with a -2 behind Central Wyoming College's Hunter Hall with a -3 and tournament winner Northeastern Junior College's Jackson Rottschafer with a -7.

"Overall the guys played well for our first tournament out this spring," EWC head golf coach Zach Smith said. "To fall just 2 strokes short of first place is tough but there are some tremendous things to take away from this tournament."

The Lancers finished the tournament with a +12, two strokes behind McCook Community College.

Northeastern Junior College finished in third place, followed by Lamar Community College, Otero College, and Central Wyoming College.

EWC's Suttka and Taylor finished in a tie for sixth place with a +4, while Behle finished in 10th place with a +6. Other members of the Lancer team competing included Ryker Dunkley, Andrew Stannard, and Tyler Fraser.

"Some of our freshmen have matured and settled into college golf well between the fall and spring season that should help us move forward this season and into next year," Smith said. "We are all excited to keep playing in tournaments every week, now we just need mother nature to cooperate."
