EWC freshman kicks off season with a win at Chadron State College Rodeo

Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo Team @ Chadron State College Rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo traveled to Chadron, Nebraska to compete in the first rodeo of the fall season, hosted by Chadron State College. Freshman Chadron Coffield, Yuma, CO, won the tie down roping with a total time of 21.8 seconds on two rounds. He won the first round with a time of 10.7 seconds and split first in the short round with a time of 11.1 seconds.

Teammate Brendan Butterfield, sophomore, Richardton, ND, placed 6th in the first round, 5th in the short round and 5th in the average of the tie down roping.

Sophomore Colten Reed, Wiley, CO, and partner Jon Peterson, Gillette College, won the first round of the team roping with a time of 6.3 seconds.

Returning CNFR qualifier Karissa Rayhill, Martin, SD, was 5th in the first round of the goat tying, split 3rd and 4th in the short round and finished the weekend 4th in the average.

"I thought we started off well," said Coach Jake Clark. "We did not have a lot of depth but still had a strong showing."

The Lancers will travel to Sheridan, WY to compete in the annual fall rodeo hosted by Sheridan College September 21-23.
