Ten Lancers make short round

EWC Lancer Rodeo at Laramie County Community College Rodeo Results

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo Team traveled to Cheyenne, WY to compete in the Laramie County Community College's Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo. Ten student athletes made it back to short round Sunday in various events.

In the goat tying, two Lancers competed in the short go. RaeLee Caldwell, freshman, Gillette WY, ended the weekend second in the average while Jessica Woodward, sophomore, of Custer SD ended her weekend 10th.

Tie Down was successful for the Lancers with four student athletes coming back for championship Sunday. Coy Thar, sophomore, Rozet WY ended his weekend 5th in the average, with Seth Glass, sophomore, Sidney NE, right behind him for 6th place for the weekend. Freshman Kyler Clark of Yoder WY ended his weekend 8th while freshman, Cooper Phillipps of Burwell, NE rounded out the weekend 9th.

Sophomore Bridger Amiotte, Wall, SD went into Sunday leading the Steer wrestling with a 3.9 second run and ended his weekend 10th in the average.

In the Team Roping, Colton Zimmerman, sophomore, Nunn, CO made it to short go Sunday with his partner Trevor Sorge of Gillette College. The team ended their weekend 8th in the average.

A breakout in the girl's breakaway occurred this weekend for the women's team with two Lancer athletes making it to Sunday. Caldwell returned in her second event of the day ending her weekend third in the average. Jayda From, freshman, Bridgeport NE came back for her first short go of the season and ended second in the average.

Freshman barrel racer Camryn Kocian of Brainard NE rounded out the weekend with a 9th place finish in the average for the women's team.

The Lancer Women's Team ended the weekend third in team standings, and RaeLee Caldwell ended her weekend All-Around Champion for the first time in her college career. "Looking back at this weekend, I was very happy with how my horses worked and grateful to have placed in both of my events and won the all-around title." Caldwell said.

The Lancers will head to Lamar Colorado to round out the fall rodeo season October 13-15.
