Aguirre's double-double leads EWC past Rustlers

Freshman guard Ane Esnal Aguirre recorded her first double-double of the season as the Eastern Wyoming College women's basketball team routed the Central Wyoming Rustlers 83-58 at home on Saturday afternoon.

Aguirre scored 14 points to go with her first career 10-assist performance. She also led the Lancers with four steals and had three rebounds.

Eastern (9-9 overall, 2-2 Region IX-North) scored 19 points in each of the first two quarters while allowing just 17 total first-half points to the Rustlers.

Sophomore forward Paula Marknez Sanz scored 22 points to lead all players. Sans also had five assists, three rebounds and two steals. 

Montse Gutierrez Ibanez (11 points) and Raleigh Basart (10) also scored in double digits while nine of 10 Lancers scored against Central. 

The Lancers shot 60 percent from the floor, their second-best mark of the season, and tallied 16 steals, also a second-best performance on the season.

Eastern travels to Casper on Wednesday to take on the No. 22-ranked Thunderbirds.
