EWC men’s team capture team title at Chadron rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College men's rodeo team won the team title at the second rodeo of their fall season.  The Lancers were in Chadron, Nebraska for the annual Chadron State College rodeo.

"The men are competing really well and making smart runs.  It was great to win the CSC rodeo," shared Coach Jake Clark.  "That puts us in a good position in the team standings."

Capturing their second championship title in a row were the freshman team roping team of Riley Curuchet, Kaycee, WY and partner Denton Shaw, Lusk, WY.  They won the rodeo with a time of 14.6 seconds on two steers.

Blaine Finney, sophomore, Ainsworth, NE and partner Cotey Hansen, sophomore, Berthold, ND finished in 4th place in the average.  Also qualifying for the short round were the teams of Trevor Schnaufer, sophomore, Pueblo, CO and partner Joby Barquin, Casper College and JJ Skarohlid, freshman, Cheyenne, WY and partner Colby Anders who rodeos for Chadron.

In the tie down roping, three Lancers qualified for the short round and finished 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.  They were AJ Freeman, sophomore, Dunning, NE; Cody Lane, sophomore, Torrington, WY and freshman JJ Skarohlid, Cheyenne, WY.

Sophomore Tanner Freeman, Dunning, NE, was second in the steer wrestling with a time of 12.4 seconds on two steers.  Teammate Danny Manning, sophomore, Hemingford, NE, was 5th in the first round.

In the goat tying, sophomore Rylee Rutten, Colome, SD, qualified for the short round.

The next rodeo for the Lancers will be in Sheridan, WY, September 25-27.
