The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer rodeo team kicked off the spring rodeo season by hosting their hometown rodeo, Lancer Rodeo 2016.  Sophomore Tanner Freeman, Dunning, NE, lead the Lancers with a second place split in the steer wrestling.  Freeman had a total time of 13.0 seconds on two steers and won the short round with a time of 5.4 seconds.

Team roping duo Cody Lane, sophomore, Torrington, Wyoming and Tyus Olson, freshman, Mud Butte, SD, finished fourth in the short round and fourth in the average.  Lane also qualified for the short round in the tie down roping where he finished sixth in the average.

Emily Wolf, sophomore, Fort Collins, CO, was sixth in the average in the barrel race.  Teammate Rylee Rutten, sophomore, Colome, SD qualified for the short round in the breakaway roping and Ballie Mutchler, Whitewood, SD, qualified for the short round of the goat tying.

"We had a great crowd for our season opener and great rodeo action," shared Coach Jake Clark.  "Our men's team has maintained second place in the region.  Two teams will qualify for the CNFR and they are in a good position to do so."

The next rodeo will be hosted by Gillette College March 18-20.
