EWC wins first and second in team roping at CSC rodeo

The fall rodeo season started off with the rodeo hosted by Chadron State College this past weekend.  The Lancers captured first and second place in the team roping. 

"We had a great showing by some of our freshmen," shared Coach Jake Clark.  "That is exciting. We struggled in the team standings. But we have a lot of talent and we can catch up fast."

Freshman Braden Pirrung, Hartford, SD, and partner JD Kirwan, Gillette College won the team roping with a time of 15.2 seconds on two steers.  Teammates Bryer Wadhams, freshman, Pueblo, CO and partner Trevor Schnaufer, sophomore, Pueblo, CO won the long round with a time of 6.9 seconds.  They finished second in the average with a total time of 22.7 seconds on two steers.

In the tie down roping, freshman Wyatt Vick, Hugo, CO, was fourth in the short round and fourth in the average with a 33.3 seconds.  Torrington sophomore Logan Milligan also qualified for the short round in the tie down roping.

Freshman Wyatt Schuelke, Faith, SD qualified for the short round in the saddle bronc riding after winning fifth in the first round.

Sophomore Jamie Thompson, Lusk, WY qualified for the short round in the goat tying.  She was one of six competitors who tied in 8.2 seconds in the first round.

 

The Lancer Rodeo Team will travel to Sheridan, WY to compete September 23, 24 & 25.
