EWC team ropers dominate at Sheridan College rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo team competed at the annual Sheridan College hosted rodeo this past weekend where several members of the team performed very well.

EWC team roping teams were qualified in five of the top ten spots of the short round.  Torrington sophomore Logan Milligan and his partner Coley Nicholls, sophomore, Kinnear, WY, won the first round with a time of 6.8 seconds.  They were second in the average for the weekend.  Freshman Braden Pirrung, Hartford, SD and partern JD Kirwin, Gillette College along with teammates Tanielle Arneson, freshman, Enning, SD and partner Isaac Tilstra, sophomore, Hills, MN, tied for 2nd/3rd in the first round with a time of 6.9 seconds.  Pirrung and Kirwin finished 3rd in the average and Arneson and Tilstra were 5th in the average.

Other EWC team ropers qualifying for the short round were sophomores Riley Curuchet, Kaycee, WY and partner Denton Shaw, Lusk, WY along with Bryer Wadhams, freshman, and partner Trevor Schnaufer, sophomore.  Wadhams and Schnaufer are from Pueblo, CO.

Sophomore Danny Manning, Hemingford, NE, won the short round of the steer wrestling with a time of 5.6 seconds which landed him second in the average for the weekend.

In the saddle bronc riding, freshman Wyatt Schuelke, Faith, SD, split 1st and 2nd in the first round and he finished the weekend 5th in the average.

Freshman, Kyle Chapman, Rock Springs, WY, qualified for the short round in the bareback riding.

"We continue to gather most of our points in the team roping," shared Coach Jake Clark.  "We have a lot of depth and the team is competing well.  We also did well in the saddle bronc riding and steer wrestling.  I feel like our team is starting to establish itself."

The Lancer Rodeo team will travel to Lamar, CO September 30 – October 2nd.
