EWC’s Thompson wins second in goat tying at Lamar

Eastern Wyoming College freshman Jacey Thompson, Torrington, continues her success in the goat tying and finished second at the Lamar college rodeo.  She finished with a total time of 15.5 seconds in two rounds.  In the first round, she tied for first with two fellow competitors with a time of 7.9 seconds.  In the short round, she was 7.6 and tied for second.  Thompson also won 3rd in the first round of the breakaway roping.

Teammate Karissa Rayhill, Martin, SD, qualified for the short round of the barrel racing.

The ladies team finished the weekend in 3rd place.

"The women's team has put themselves back in a good position in the overall standings," shared Coach Jake Clark.  "With two rodeos remaining for the fall, we are hoping to finish strong on all sides."

Sophomore Wyatt Schuelke, Faith, SD, tied for 3rd in the first round of the saddle bronc riding with a score of 70.  He then tied for 4th in the short round and finished the weekend 4th in the average.

In the team roping, the sophomore team of Canton Afdahl and Logan Milligan, both from Torrington, qualified for the short round.

In the Central Rocky Mountain regional standings, Thompson is currently second with 300 points, behind leader, Casey Reimler from UW who has 330 points.  Rayhill is sitting 7th.

The Lancers will compete in Riverton at the Central Wyoming College hosted rodeo October 6-8.
