Lancer rodeo team concludes fall season

Eastern Wyoming College Rodeo Team @ Central Wyoming College Rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo team concluded the fall rodeo season at Central Wyoming College October 6-8.

Freshman Karissa Rayhill led the Lancers with a 2nd place finish in the goat tying and a 4th place finish in the barrel racing.  In the goats, she split 3rd, 4th and 5th in the first round with a time of 7.9 seconds.  She was 2nd in the short round with a time of 7.7, securing her 2nd place average finish.  In the barrel racing, she was 3rd in the first round, 6th in the short round for her 4th place average finish.

Rayhill captured 2nd place in the women's all-around race for the weekend as well.

In the team roping, the sophomore team of Braden Pirrung, Hartford, SD and Riley Curuchet, Kaycee, WY, were 5th in the first round and won the short round with a time of 5.0 seconds which placed them 2nd in the average for the weekend.  Teammates Bryer Wadhams and Trevor Schnaufer, both sophomores from Pueblo, CO, and Sutton Adams, sophomore, Dell Rapids, SD and partner Cole Trainor, CWC all qualified for the short round.

"The men's and women's teams both finished strong at the final fall rodeo," shared Coach Jake Clark.  "We will now focus on improving and making adjustments throughout the winter before we start up again in the spring."

The women's team is in 3rd place in the Central Rocky Mountain Regional standings.  Other regional standings include Jacey Thompson, freshman, Yoder, WY, 2nd and Rayhill 5th in goat tying; Rayhill, Pirrung and Curuchet are 7th in the regional team roping standings.

The final fall rodeo which was to be held at Laramie County Community College has been postponed until the spring season.
