EWC women win second at Casper rodeo

The Lady Lancer Rodeo team finished the Casper College rodeo with 255 points which landed them in second place for the weekend. They are also in second place as a team in the Central Rocky Mountain Regional (CRMR) standings with 1905.33 points behind the Gillette College women who are in first place with 3435.00 points. The ladies team from the University of Wyoming is in third place with 1708.33 points.

"We have several students with a chance to qualify for nationals," said Coach Jake Clark. "Looking forward to finishing strong at this final regional rodeo."

Leading the Lancer ladies team was Libby Winchell, freshman, Scottsbluff, NE with a second place finish in the goat tying with a total time of 14.1 seconds in two rounds.

Teammate Karissa Rayhill, freshman, Martin, SD, won third in the average of the barrel racing. Jacey Thompson, freshman, Yoder, WY, rounded out the women's team with a 6th place finish in the average of the breakaway roping.

In the team roping the sophomore team of Braden Pirrung, Hartford, SD and Riley Curuchet, Kaycee, WY, were 3rd in the first round. Levi Walter, sophomore, Wray, CO and partner Tyus Olson, sophomore, Mud Butte, SD, were 5th in the first round.

Individually in the CRMR standings, Rayhill is 1st in the goat tying with teammates Thompson and Winchell in 3rd and 8th place respectively. Pirrung and Curuchet are 4th in the team roping standings.

The Lancer rodeo team will conclude the spring season April 27-29 at the University of Wyoming rodeo to be held in Laramie, WY.
