Rayhill wins title, EWC ladies win second

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer rodeo concluded the season at the annual University of Wyoming rodeo hosted in Laramie, Wyoming. EWC freshman Karissa Rayhill, Martin, SD, won the regional title in the Goat Tying and will be representing the College at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, WY, June 10-16.

Teammate Jacey Thompson, freshman, Yoder, WY, finished the season in 3rd place in the Goat Tying, also qualifying for the CNFR.

Rayhill, Thompson and Libby Winchell, freshman, Scottsbluff, NE, captured the reserve champion team title for the women's team with a total of 2080.33 points. The Gillette College women's team won the regional title with a total of 3640.00 points. The University of Wyoming was third with 1943.33 points. Rayhill will compete in goat tying and barrel racing, Thompson and Winchell will compete in goat tying.

"I am very proud of the women's team and what they accomplished this season.  I feel we have a great chance at the national level," shared Coach Jake Clark.

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo was honored with the Rodeo of the Year award.

Results for the final regular season rodeo were as follows:

Goat tying – Rayhill 2nd in average, Thompson, 2nd in first round Saddle Bronc riding – Wyatt Schuelke, sophomore, Faith, SD, tie for 2nd in average Team roping – Ty Truchan, freshman, Killdeer, ND and Schuelke – qualified for the short round Steer Wrestling – Schuelke, 6th in first round Tie Down Roping – Levi Walter, sophomore, Wray, CO, qualified for the short round

The CNFR will be held in Casper, WY, June 10-16.
