Lancer’s finish 2nd and 3rd at home rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo just hosted their home rodeo where the Women's Team won second and the Men's Team won third.

The women's team was led by sophomore Jacey Thompson who qualified for the short round in 3 events: goat tying, breakaway roping, and team roping. She won the goat tying with a total time of 13.8 seconds. She won the short round with a time of 6.5 seconds, the fastest time of the rodeo.

Thompson and teammate Karissa Rayhill tied for 2nd in the breakaway roping. They each had a 2.6 in the first round and a 2.4 in the short round.

Freshman Teigen Marchant from Newcastle, WY, placed 2nd in the steer wrestling average. He split 3rd and 4th in the first round and won 2nd in the short round. He had a total time of 10.1 seconds on 2 steers.

Chadron Coffield, freshman, placed 2nd in the first round of the tie down roping and won the short round to finish the weekend 2nd in the average with a total time of 20.9 on two. Colton Reed, sophomore, Wiley, CO, placed 4th in the first round.

In the team roping, Braden Pirrung and partner Jace Engesser, Gillette College, were 5th in the first round, 3rd in the short round and 3rd in the average. The sophomore team of Ty Truchan and Brendan Butterfield tied for 1st in the first round, were 4th in the short round and 4th in the average. Thompson and partner Colin Dibbern, Chadron State College, qualified for the short round.

The Lancers will travel to Fort Collins, Colorado for the Colorado State University rodeo on April 5-7.
